Problem solving

  1. Jane measures 1 metre and 25cm and her sister measures 1 metre and 46 cm.
What would their total height equal?

2 A roll of tape is 1 metre long. If I use 42 cm of it how much is left?

3 Mrs Wright has a ball of wall which measures 5 metres long. She uses 2 metres and 50cm of it. How much wool is left?

Tip - convert the metres to centimetres or the centimetres to metres

   Fronted Adverbials https://www.thenational.academy/year-3/english/setting-description-spag-focus-fronted-adverbial-phrases-year-3-wk2-4 A  fronted adverbial  is a word, phrase or clause that is placed at the start of a sentence. They are used to explain how (manner), when (time) or where (place) something happens. A fronted adverbial is separated from the main clause with a comma. For example:  Early one morning,  Rohan went for a run in the park. The blue highlighted sections are all examples of fronted adverbials. Use these examples of fronted adverbials to finish the sentences. As I looked out of my window, Up in the sky, When I went for a walk, Next to the winding path, In the garden, On the kitchen table, In the corner of my bedroom, Challenge - can you think /find your own fronted adverbials and make up your own sentences?
