This week we are going to use some on-line lessons from Oak National Academy to help us with our work.

These lessons will help us write a story. When you see the videos online they are from the week beginning 1^st June.

Comprehension

Read the extract from Traction Man and then answer the questions in full sentences.

1. Did the boy think he was going to get the presents he wanted? Can you explain how you know?

2. Why do you think the ordinary box is special to the boy?

3. What evidence is there to suggest that the boy will enjoy the rest of his birthday?

4. How can you tell the boy is excited when he wakes up?

5. Find the word which means thrown away.

6. Can you explain what the word embark means?

7. Describe what Traction Man was wearing.

9. Look at the final sentence. What can you infer about Traction Man. Use evidence from the text to support your answer.

10. How do you think the boy’s parents will feel when they see him with the toy?
